Daily Schedule: 5th Day

Last evening we were invited to the Polish intercultural evening.

It was a great great evening; they showed us a short movies about the history of Poland, they teached us how to dance Polonaise and gave us some traditional sweets and drinks.
The evening was closed with some guitar songs played by Jurek.

Denumire activitate: Origami Workshop
Methods: Work in mixed groups, art & craft
Aim: Presenting ideas, concepts and doing paper handicrafts representing national symbols through the origami tehnique; active participation of the youngsters; development of their creativity and practical abilities

Description:
The Spanish participants presented their national symbols: the bull and the flamenco dance. Then they split the participants in mixed groups and they showed them how to make the origmai paper folding: the head of the bull and a flamenco dress.






The Greek participants split the rest of the participants in mixed groups and exemplified how to make a boat from paper through the origami tehnique, explaining at the same time the importance of this symbol in the history of their country.







The Turkish participants started this session by asking the others to say the frist thing it crosses their minds when they think about Turkey. Each of them expressed their opinion and afterwards when someone told the word “turkey” as the animal, they said that one is the symbol they chose. The participants were grouped in a mixed way and it was shown to them how to fold the paper in oder to make a turkey, but also a tulip (their national symbol).








Outcomes: The participants developed competences such as cultural awareness and how to express themselves, they developed their creativity by making origami handicrafts, while the Spanish/ Greek/ Turkish participants also developed their sense of initiative by facilitating this workshop.
